The Ogallala Police Department needs your help in solving several acts of Criminal Mischief in the Ogallala Area.   During the months of May and June Officers received more than 18 reports of Vandalism to cars, garages, street signs and playground equipment.  Suspects used a marker and spray paint.

Stolen transmissions
June 03, 2009

Sometime during the past 6 months unknown persons entered onto private property located south of Ogallala and stole approximately 30-40 used car transmissions from a parked trailer.  Transmissions were for various vehicle makes.  The value to replace these transmissions is well over $1,500.00 makes this Theft a felony.   



Burglary Cornhuskers Lanes

During the morning hours of Monday, May 4th 2009, an unknown person gained entry by force to the Cornhusker Lanes Bowling Alley located at 901 East 1st.  Once inside the business the suspect damaged the safe and stole cash from the business.

Cell Phone SCAM

Cell Phone SCAM

          On Saturday, 041809, Keith County Residents were flooded with scam cell phone calls from a Dakota bank.  Calls stated that their ATM accounts were frozen and asked for the account numbers, experation dates and pin numbers.  If you gave out any information you should contact your bank as soon as possible and let them know that you may be victim of a SCAM.

Burglaries in Paxton
February 04, 2009

On the night of December 12th unknown suspects broke into R Hair Syndicut and the Hardin Agency both in Paxton.  The suspects stole money and several specialized hair clippers. Value of the stolen items was well over $500.  During this time there was also a similar burglary in Lincoln Count and these crimes may be related.

In the month of November deputies were called to several residences in Brule and around the lake for thefts from vehicles. Theft of Winch

The Ogallala Police Department needs your help in solving a recent Theft.

            On the night of November 7th a work truck was left parked at a local dealership.  During the night unknown suspects removed a Warn Brand M12000 winch from the front bumper of a 2007 Dodge truck.  The winch was valued at $2,500 making this crime a Felony.



Burglary at Sands Edge

The Keith County Sheriff’s Office would like your help in solving a recent Burglary at Sands Edge. 

On October 24th Deputies took a report of Burglary to a storage unit owned by Sands Edge.  Suspects broke into a storage unit and stole 11 bottles of Liquor, 7 cases of Beer and 2 bottles of wine.  Value of the alcohol was well over $1,000.00.  Burglary is a felony.

The Ogallala Police Department needs your help in solving a recent Burglary. 

On October 7th Officers responded to a report of a Burglary at West Side Storage located behind Beaver Bearing Company.  Officers learned that several storage units had the locks cut and removed.  Unknown suspects then removed several rifles and shotguns along with two compound bows.  Total value of items stolen was over $1,800.



Property thefts from unlocked cars

In the month of September Officers continued to receive reports of property thefts from unlocked vehicle.  Items stolen include purses, lap tops, ipods and other items of value.  Total value of items stolen was well over $1,000.  The Ogallala Police department would like to again remind citizens not leave valuables in plain sight, to lock their vehicles, and close up garages at night.

Unknown suspects have been spray painting on several street sign and buildings around town again.  Suspects have been spray painting several words and symbols in the Ogallala area.  Cost to repair this damage is over $500.

Theft of Copper from NPPD

           The Keith County Sheriff’s Officer needs your help in solving a recent theft.

During the weekend of August 1st unknown subject stole a large amount of copper wire from a NPPD substation located in the 500 mile of Road East 120.  This was the second theft from this substation.  Copper wire stolen was valued at over $500.

           The Ogallala Police Department needs your help in solving a theft from a local business.

During the weekend of July 4th unknown subjects stole 36 cases of frozen fish and chicken from a swan’s truck parked at in the 2000 block of Riverdale drive.  Property stolen was valued at over $400. 



Vandalism at local Schools

The Ogallala Police Department needs your help in solving some recent vandalism to Ogallala Schools.                       

During the weekend of June 14th unknown subject caused damage to Prairie View School.  Two windows were broken with paintballs causing over $200 damage.

Then on two different nights’s unknown subjects climbed onto the roof of the Ogallala Middle School.  Once on the roof the vandals threw rocks and damaged exterior lights causing over $100 damage.  The Ogallala Police department wants to encourage citizens to report any suspicious activity at area schools.
