In the early morning hours of October 2nd unknown persons caused damage to more than 10 vehicles all around Ogallala. It appeared that the subjects drove back and forth on several streets and struck car mirrors with a bat. Several cars were left with broken mirrors and damaged paint.
On the night of September 25th 2010 unknown persons walked down West 8th St. and rummaged through several vehicles, stole yard light and damaged property. While in the 800 block of West 8th the suspects stole a 1998 Toyota Camry that had the keys left in it. The Toyota was later recovered on I-80 near Big Springs and was abandoned with motor damage. The value of the stolen vehicle was around $3,500 making this theft a felony.

On the weekend of July 30th there was a fishing tournament at the lake. Several of the contestants stayed at the Pump and Pantry Motel. Unknown persons entered several boats during the night and stole fishing equipment and a Diving suit with hood and gloves. Value of the diving suit alone was over $2,000 making this theft a felony.

The Ogallala Police Department needs your help in solving a Theft of from the Platte River Inn. Between the days of July 27th and July 29th Unknown persons stole various construction tools from the area of the Platte River Inn, formerly the Gray Goose Lodge. Some of the tools that were stolen were a reciprocating saw and a hammer drill. The value of the tools was estimated at over $2500 making this theft a felony.
The Keith County Sheriff’s Office needs your help in solving a rash of vehicle thefts in the county.
Between June 6th and June 16th Deputies took several stole vehicle reports including a stolen golf cart, boat and an ATV. Two of thefts occurred the same day and in the same area. Someone stole a light blue 2000 Yamaha golf cart from Eichners Sales and Service, and then an Orange 2008 South bay boat with a trailer was stolen from Dan’s Marine. Then the next week a 2005 Kawasaki ATV was stolen from the 1700 mile of East Highway 30. The value of these stolen items is well over $1,500 making these thefts Felonies.
The Keith County Sheriff’s Office needs your help in solving a recent act of animal cruelty.
On May 29th Deputies were called to the Rail Road Cross at the Sandy Beach Entrance. Rail Road employees found that an unknown person had tied a full grown Siberian Husky to the tracks. The dog had been struck by a train and killed. If you have any information about who may have tied this dog to the tracks please call crime stoppers. Animal Cruelty is a crime punishable by jail.
On the weekend of April 9th, 2010 unknown persons were out causing problems. Someone knocked over and damaged several street signs and mail boxes on the west side of town. Also that same night unknown persons damaged 5 patrol cars belonging to the State Patrol, County and City by hitting them with eggs.
In the month of April Sheriff’s Deputies received a report of Copper wire theft from a pivot on the Paxton-Elsie Road. Value of the copper wire was estimated at approximately $500. Sheriff’s Deputies also received a report of a stolen solar panel from south of Brule. The solar panel was valued at over $3,000.00. Please keep an eye out on county roads and report suspicious activity.
On the March 16th 2010 Deputies responded to the 200 mile of Road East 130. The reporting party advised that an unknown subject shot holes in a 1960’s model John Deere Tractor. The tractor had damage to several windows and tires. The cost to fix the damage to the tractor is over $1,000.00 making this crime a Felony.
Ogallala Police Department needs your help in solving a recent Burglary to a local Business.
On the Weekend of February 26th unknown persons used force to gain entry to Alberts Photography located in the 10 block of North Spruce St. in Ogallala. Once inside the business the suspects stole photography equipment and computer equipment. The value of the items stolen makes this crime a Felony.
During the month of January 2010 unknown suspects stole a Remington 22-250 rifle and other hunting supplies from a vehicle parked on Westridge drive. Value of the rifle and other items totaled over $5,000.00.
During the month of December 2009 unknown suspects were again out at night stealing property that did not belong to them. Officers took numerous reports of thefts from unlocked vehicles in the Ogallala area. Most thefts occurred during the evening and overnight hours. The suspects stole change, cd’s, guns and in some cases causing damage to the vehicles. Remember to secure your belongings by locking your vehicles and homes.
Sometime between Friday 111309 at about 530pm and Saturday 111409 at 0630am unknown person broke into B and J Salvage in Brule. Suspects damaged several doors, stole tool box and misc. tools from the building and from a locked buses. Damage was over $100 to the building and over $3,000.00 in tools were stolen.
During the month of November unknown suspects were out at night stealing property that did not belong to them. Officers took over 10 reports of thefts from unlocked vehicles in the Ogallala area. Most thefts occurred during the evening and overnight hours. Suspects stole change and ransacked vehicles. Don’t let someone ruin your Christmas; remember to secure your belongings by locking your vehicles and homes.
During the month of October and on Halloween night unknown suspects were out causing damage to property. South of Ogallala the suspects used pumpkins to damage several mail boxes. In Ogallala the suspects damaged several mail boxes, broke the outside mirrors of vehicles and stole or smashed pumpkins.
During the evening of September 18th, 2009 an unknown person threw a Marine battery threw the back window of 2005 Silver Ford Focus. The vehicle was parked in the 500 block of West K St. at the time. The battery broke open and spilled acid on the interior of the vehicle. Damage to the vehicle was well over $1,000 making this crime a felony.
The Keith County Sheriff’s Office needs your help in solving two recent Motor Vehicle thefts.
During the morning hours of September 30th, 2009 an unknown person stole a maroon 1995 Chevy Tahoe with Nebraska Plate #68G900. The vehicle was stolen from the victims’ driveway in Paxton.
Then on October 5th, 2009 Deputies took a report of a stolen Blue 1977 GMC Blazer with no plates. This vehicle was stolen from the Cactus Hills area near Lewellen. Both Motor Vehicle thefts have a value of over $1,000 making these crimes a felony.
